On February 28th Helsinki’s buzzed about rock outfit New Silver Girl drops their sophomore album ’Wild Carnation’.

On February 28th Olli Happonen and his rock band New Silver Girl releases the new album ”Wild Carnation” via multi disciplinary fashion label/film company/record label Ivana Helsinki. It was recorded at legendary Abbey Road Studios in London with the producer Gordon Raphael (The Strokes, Hinds, Regina Spektor). ”Wild Carnation”, in an original way, mixes influences of Detroit's MC5 rock with elements of Americana-inspired murder ballads.

Happonen says in a description of the album: ”Lou Reed is having a good time with Patti Smith at the Joshua Tree motel with Nick Cave hosting, while Howlin Wolf and Wayne Kramer are running the jukebox.”

The two singles that anticipated the album, ”Blue Room” and ”Loud Love”, were featured in respected indie rock sites Hymn Magazine and Austin Town Hall, also garnering numerous picks around the globe on indie rock sites and playlists, including depth interview by Happonen at Italy’s most important indie rock magazine ”Rockerilla”.

New Silver Girl are not part of social media like Meta, Bytedance, or X. Instead, for Happonen, rock and roll is a religion and blues is its holy church, whose congregation gathers around live gigs and records - around the honest communication between the music and the people.

In addition to the album ”Wild Carnation”, Happonen’s Americana-inspired score music can be heard in Paola Suhonen’s (Ivana Helsinki) new film ”From the Midnight Sun to Eternity”, which premieres on May 16. In return Paola Suhonen has made three music videos for ”Wild Carnation” celebrating the style of David Lynch and the aesthetics of rock and roll's eternal longing.
